Over the past nine years, the work of the EDB in diversifying the economy, in attracting investment and in embedding institutions to help deliver the reform programme, has been both significant and enduring.

EDB HAS OVERSEEN AN ECONOMY THAT HAS GROWN BY TEN PER CENT ANNUALLY

Chairman`s Statement

In the midst of complex global peace and economic security challenges, Bahrain has remained steadfast in its determination to maximise opportunities for the Kingdom in the international marketplace, to ensure long-term stability and to increase the potential for growth and prosperity.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) continues to play a critical role in enhancing the Kingdom's strategy of economic diversification, increasing foreign investment into the country and supporting the development and growth of domestic infrastructure.

Over the past few years, the EDB has devised and implemented effective strategies that have succeeded in reinforcing Bahrain's status as a natural hub for regional trade, stimulating the rapid development of a number of key sectors, including financial services, infrastructure and logistics and manufacturing.

The EDB has been particularly instrumental in driving forward partnerships between Bahrain's private and public sectors. It continues to provide invaluable support to both new and well-established businesses to facilitate their growth and expansion in Bahrain and the wider GCC market. In addition, the organisation has also been the major catalyst for a number of projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing local skills and improving the quality of education across the Kingdom.

This robust strategy of diversifying and expanding our national economy has led to resilience to the financial challenges and crises that still exist throughout the world.

Following its significant achievements over the past few years, I am encouraged to see the EDB supporting His Majesty King Hamad's programme of sustainable development, to secure a more prosperous future for the Kingdom of Bahrain and all its people.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa
